Labour Relations
As an employers’ association established under the Public Sector Employers Act and the accredited bargaining agent for most publicly funded health employers in the province, HEABC has exclusive authority to bargain collectively for health care employers and to interpret and administer the provincial collective agreements covering six health sector bargaining units:
- Ambulance Paramedics and Ambulance Dispatchers Subsector
- Community Subsector
- Facilities Subsector
- Health Science Professionals
- Nurses
- Resident Doctors of BC (formerly known as Professional Association of Residents of BC)
HEABC employs an experienced team of labour relations professionals and legal counsel who conduct collective agreement negotiations with health sector bargaining associations. The team also provides a variety of labour relations services to members including the interpretation of collective agreements and employment-related legislation, resolution of grievances and other disputes and representation of member interests in labour arbitrations and Labour Relations Board proceedings.
