Facilities Subsector

The Health Services and Support - Facilities subsector Collective Agreement covers approximately 67,500 health care support workers in British Columbia.

The Hospital Employees’ Union (HEU), the British Columbia Provincial Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU), the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) represent the employees in the Facilities subsector.

Care Aide is the largest job classification in the Facilities Bargaining Association (FBA). This diverse bargaining unit also includes food service workers, cleaners, lab assistants and nursing unit assistants.

Status

After nine months of bargaining, the employer bargaining team, led by HEABC, and the Facilities Bargaining Association (FBA) reached a tentative agreement on November 17, 2025, under the province’s Balanced Measures Mandate. The current Health Services & Support Facilities Subsector Association Collective Agreement (Facilities Collective Agreement) expires on March 31, 2025.
