Status of 2010 bargaining with the Health Science Professionals

Talks with the Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association (HSPBA) are set to resume on June 16 and 17 and June 23 and 24.

About the HSPBA collective agreement

The Health Science Professionals Bargaining Unit is comprised of 11,829 (FTEs) employees spanning many professional and technical disciplines. The employees are represented collectively by the Health Sciences Professionals Bargaining Association (HSPBA).

HSPBA is represented by the Health Sciences Association (HSA), the British Columbia Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU), the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the Professional Employees Association (PEA), the Hospital Employees Union (HEU) and the BC Nurses Union (BCNU).

The most populated health science professional is the medical technologist, accounting for 18 per cent of total full time employees. Classifications range from medical and laboratory disciplines to pharmacists, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers and physiotherapists.
